Sarıyer

Sariyer

Sarıyer. Even the gendarm is nice here (at least to me). The kebapseller I frequent give me the tourist prce, (double) but he does it in such a nice way. Whether you want it or not I will force more of my random framings of this part of the city onto this blog. Nothing can stop me (add insane laughter here).

Don’t miss back streets of Büyükdere when you’re in Sarıyer.

In Sariyer I’m often, but have been to Buyukdere only once. I had to, to legalize my stay here. A quite different place than central Sariyer I would say. I will go back.

Old houses full off interesting details (such as segull shaped support of an alcove), huge pinenut trees, amazing view of Bosphorus and Anatolian site, twisted narrow streets, churhes, sleeping cats – in short things make Istanbul Istanbul. And yes, so many parts of Istanbul provides these, but such quite, tranquil atmosphere is what attracts me in Büyükdere. Perhaps because of this atmosphere it is easy for me to imagine how life had been before for generations.
