Atilla Dorsay vs. Kadir Topbaş

Ebru Çapa’s column today prompted me to mention a polemical issue that took place last week. Last Monday, 38th Cinema and Film Critics Association awards ceremony was hold in Istanbul’s Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall and it was hosted by Atilla Dorsay, the former head of the Cinema and Film Critics Association, and former model Çağla Kubat. For the awards, you can click here. Mr. Dorsay elegantly complained about the situation of construction works in İstiklal Street to Kadir Topbaş, Istanbul mayor, who was there to give awards. Mr. Dorsay was later accused of insulting Mr. Topbaş as 52 mayors of smaller districts signed a letter of accusation against him but as he writes in his own site this is not the case. Besides, being a real gentleman, Mr. Dorsay publicly stated a wound of Istanbul. Even I could not resist to write once how badly it was affecting our lives. As Ebru says if the mayor did not post on every bilboard his smily face, we would not always think of blaming him when we struggle to walk in İstiklal Street. By the way, bulldozers are back in the Street. A few weeks ago, Mr. Topbaş said he did not like the construction work, and the same company will re-start reconstruction…
