What to do on a Friday evening?

Istiklal Street offers more than enough to have a night out. But I guess you wouldn’t happen to think of starting the night with attending a panel? Goethe-Institut Istanbul hosts too many cultural events and one of a more serious one took place on last Friday evening. A Panel on “Europe’s Borders”. Prof. Ayhan Kaya and Prof. Barbara Kellner-Heinkele were the two speakers. As far as I know, the institute has two main buildings. The one close to Galatasaray High School is better known. The other one, which is called Goethe-Institut, Teutonia is located in Galip Dede street near Tünel, the other end of İstiklal Street. Anyway, because of a busy day or maybe because of a serious panel in the evening, I and my friends could not catch up with the crazy night life of Taksim and ended up wining in one of the restaurants in Asmalımescit near Tünel. Oh by any chance you are interested in the panel itself you will find some panel notes here….

Before anyone follows those directions please double check them, Erkan has a wicked sense of directions and you’d probably end up in Adana before you know it :P
