Istiklal Pepper Gas

On the way back from tonights dinner at the Istiklal Caddesi Burger King we were passed by a Polis tank! Then I saw the line of riot cops dressed to kill – or at least gas – the few hundred protestors that had gathered in the street ahead. Apparently the protest relates to Palestine, but since my Turkish is lacking, that is all I could figure out.

Anyways, I just heard a few minutes ago that the gas just started flying, so if you live near Istiklal close your windows and bring in your cats.

Update: Are today’s protests related to this?

hey luckily we are tucked up in arnavutkoy.

i was at the concert last night and massaged depeche mode actually before the show weirdly.

just found this blog tonight by accident following a link from my statcounter. i had recently suggested to a friend that she start something along the same lines. she has just started working on it. lets see what happens.

great idea though. i am living here too and sometimes post about our daily life here.
are you taking on contributers? i could send you relevant posts when i do them if you are.

We were there with Erkan and will give a full detailed account of how we fled the tear gas and how we were on the verge of being ran over by people running for their lives tomorrow. I’m still in pain from the gas so going to bed is the best option for me.

the “riot cops” look very sci-fi and they obviously outnumber the protestors.
