Choosing our “vapurs”…

Istanbul Municipality asks Istanbulites to vote for one among 8 models for the future boats we will use to cross the Bosphorus. There has been a campaign against the municipality’s reform plans on these traditional boats but I couldn’t follow what happened in the end. Is this poll satisfactory? We will see…

To use vapurs (not motor, but vapur) is the best way: vapur is punctual, safe, cheap, perfect for your nerves because it keeps you away from traffic hell of İstanbul and it offers you nice and pleasant views of İstanbul.

Considering what traffic costs and considering how well İstanbul is surrounded by water it’s damn stupid of us not to use vapurs in public transportation! (And no, the blame is not to be put on governments, municipalities, authorities only but on all of us.)
